Overview
The SOWA Pro is an active battery-powered PA speaker from the Danish startup SOWA Sound, distributed in France by MID Audio. Designed for professional events (conferences, ceremonies, exhibitions, places of worship), it revolutionizes sound setup by eliminating all mains and audio cabling between speakers. The SOWA Link protocol (proprietary 2.4 GHz, not WiFi, not Bluetooth) connects an unlimited number of speakers in Host/Join mode in seconds, with 15 ms latency and a 200 m line-of-sight range. The cabinet is handcrafted in Europe from birch plywood (180 layers) – with a Nordic design aesthetic.
Transducers and Acoustics
2-way: 6" woofer (SB Acoustics, 40 W, sensitivity 89.5 dB/2.83V/1m) + 3/4" dome tweeter (SB Acoustics, 30 W, sensitivity 88.5 dB/2.83V/1m). Frequency response: 60 Hz–20 kHz (±3 dB). Max SPL: 101 dB(A). Tweeter dispersion: 120° horizontal + 120° vertical. Active DSP with active crossover and protection circuits. Calibration performed at B&O / SoundHub Denmark facilities. Standard 35 mm pole mount (or dedicated SOWA stand).
Amplification and Processing
Class D Merus amplification (Danish design, ultra-efficient). Battery capacity: 97 Wh (allowed in airplane cabin). Battery life: up to 25 h @ 80% volume. Full charge: 3 h. AC power 100–240 V / DC 26 V 2A (built-in charger). Adjustable individual delay: 0–300 ms. Left / right / mono switch per speaker. Volume: individual offset per channel.
Connectivity and Construction
Inputs: Balanced XLR combo with 1/4" TRS line jack (mic/line input, Pro only) + 3.5 mm stereo AUX mini-jack + Bluetooth 5.0. Bluetooth + XLR or Bluetooth + mini-jack mixing (sidechain compressor on Bluetooth). 3 mic presets (flat line, handheld mic, headset mic). SOWA Link: 2.4 GHz proprietary, 48 kHz / 16 bit stereo, 15 ms latency, 200 m range. Dimensions: H 27 cm × W 28 cm × D 27 cm. Weight: 6 kg.
